Highland Park was established by David Robertson in 1798. The distillery was acquired by Highland Distillers in 1937 through its relationship with blenders Robertson & Baxter, and later became part of Edrington in 1999, which continues to operate it today. The Highland Park single malt brand began officially bottling in the 1970s with an 8-year-old expression, though distillery bottlings first appeared in the 1950s.

This particular bottle is from the early 2000s, part of the 25-year-old range, which was initially released at various cask strengths. The core range was standardized to a permanent 45.7% ABV in the mid-2000s.
